The Teacher Quality Initiative (TQI) of the University of Wisconsin System was created as a collaborative venture among the 13 UW campus institutions that prepare educators (teachers, administrators, and pupil personnel). Faculty and administrators from Education and Letters and Sciences work in partnership with professionals from UW System Administration, UW Colleges and Extension, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

While there are several projects embedded within the TQI, the common focus that binds them together is an exploration of quality issues related to teacher preparation. The activities associated with the various projects are designed to document and more fully understand the relationship between teacher preparation, teacher practice, and student learning. The lessons learned from this work will direct on-going program reform efforts across the UW System and enable its educators to more effectively prepare all learners for the 21st Century.
